Crossrail International (CI) is pleased to welcome Steve Long as Development Manager, with specific responsibility for Latin America and the Caribbean (LATAC), and a focus on rail markets in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Mexico and Peru. Additionally, Steve will contribute to commissions, opportunities and initiatives globally.
Steve brings extensive knowledge of key players in the global rail sector and joins CI at a crucial period as many countries have committed to the expansion of their rail networks, investing in economic infrastructure to help drive their economies out of the current pandemic-led global recession.
Through his high-profile role with global events company Terrapinn, where he spent three years as Conference Producer in the transport and infrastructure sectors, Steve has curated conferences and exhibitions that aimed to provide innovative insights and lessons learned across clients and suppliers alike. During his tenure he was directly responsible for the significant growth and impact of RAIL LIVE!, now one of the world’s leading rail events, hosted annually in Spain.
Steve has built an extensive stakeholder network throughout Latin America, UK, Europe and Asia, including government officials and agencies, transport operators, contractors, consultants, suppliers and industry media. In keeping with CI’s global objectives, Steve has also lived and worked previously in Chile, France and Taiwan giving him an appreciation of different cultures and approaches to inform and support his role as an ambassador for UK best practice.
“We are delighted that Steve has joined our team,” said Paul Dyson, CI’s Managing Director. “Steve’s network and very strong language skills will play a key role in building on the firm foundations established in the LATAC region by Rebecca Venn, who left us earlier this year to take up the position of Head of Government-to-Government (G2G) for Infrastructure at the Department of International Trade (DIT). I look forward to Steve playing a significant role in helping us to expand our business influence and contributing to the growth of UK exports.”
Steve is tri-lingual, speaking fluent English, French and Spanish. He also has an intermediate knowledge of Portuguese and Welsh and is currently studying Arabic.
“I am excited at the prospect of joining Crossrail International,” said Steve, “and keen to learn from the firm’s team of expert advisers in their respective fields, promoting UK best practice in export markets.”
