After a productive start in São Paulo, our mission continued in Brasília with a series of constructive meetings with key federal stakeholders 🇧🇷🇬🇧.
At the Ministério dos Transportes (Ministry of Transport), we had a great discussion with Leonardo Cezar Ribeiro on how Transit-Oriented Development can support sustainable growth in Brazil. We explored how international experience, including lessons from the UK, could contribute to advancing TOD as part of the Ministry’s wider transport and urban development agenda.
Our meeting with SEPAC (Special Secretariat for the Infrastructure Growth Acceleration Programme) under the Casa Civil (Executive Office of the President of Brazil) provided valuable insights into the PAC programme, federal priorities, and investment strategies. We also shared reflections from the Elizabeth line, particularly on how major infrastructure programmes can drive economic growth, regeneration, and long-term benefits beyond transport.
At Programa de Parcerias de Investimentos da Casa Civil da Presidência da República (Investment Partnerships Programme under the Executive Office of the President of Brazil), conversations focused on urban mobility and passenger transport, looking at challenges and opportunities across different regions of Brazil. We look forward to continuing the dialogue and contributing to ongoing discussions and studies that support SEPPI’s work.
A huge thank you to the British Embassy in Brasilia and DBT for their excellent support throughout the mission.
We look forward to building on these conversations and continuing to support Brazil’s rail and mobility ambitions.
