🚆 Last week, the Crossrail International team participated in the Foro Internacional por la Reactivación Ferroviaria in Bogotá, hosted by CAF -banco de desarrollo de América Latina y el Caribe- and the Ministerio de Transporte de Colombia.
Representing the UK as a strategic partner, we joined public and private sector leaders focused on revitalising Latin America’s railways as tools for sustainable growth, decarbonisation, and regional integration.
💡 Our colleagues Felipe Castro Arenas, Patrick ten Have, and Mike de Silva were on the ground, actively supporting the event and sharing key insights on:
-> Governance frameworks for major rail programmes – presented by Patrick Ten Have
-> Unlocking broader socio-economic benefits through reactivated rail networks – presented by Mike Da Silva
These sessions drew on UK and global experience to demonstrate how well-planned rail investment can drive not just transport improvements, but also job creation, green innovation, and long-term capacity building.
📣 A significant milestone was also announced during the forum: the launch of Colombia’s new National Railway Agency, supported by Crossrail International and UK PACT (Partnering for Accelerated Climate Transitions). This agency will play a critical role in modernising Colombia’s rail sector – from shaping strategy and improving delivery to enabling investment.
We’re pleased to contribute technical expertise to Colombia’s efforts to build a more connected and sustainable transport future.
