Crossrail International is delighted to be supporting an innovation competition funded by Innovate UK, the UK Government’s innovation agency, with support from the Department for International Trade (DIT) in Vietnam. Organisations can apply for a share of £300,000 to deliver feasibility studies to support digital innovation for the Hanoi Metro system in Vietnam. Closing date for applications is 13 October 2021.

“The aim of the competition is to support organisations to undertake feasibility studies, that demonstrate how innovation can support Hanoi Metropolitan Railway Management Board (MRB) with its digital transformation of Line 5 of the Hanoi Metro System,” said Malcolm Taylor, CI’s Expert Adviser, Digital.

Projects are expected to start on 1 January 2022, end by 31 March 2022 and can last up to three months.

In association with MRB, CI has identified the following digital themes for the programme:

  • Digital Project Management Office (PMO)
  • Efficient data management (Common Data Environment)
  • Digital environmental acceptance
  • Digital asset information management

Further details on the themes and background information relating to the challenge can be found in the technical annex and the competition briefing event.

A briefing event, hosted by Knowledge Transfer Network (KTN), was held on 13 September which can be viewed here.

The Hanoi Metropolitan Railway Management Board (MRB), on behalf of the Hanoi People’s Committee, is delivering the Hanoi Metro rapid transit system, Vietnam’s first, comprising nine (9) lines with a total length of 413km, of which 338km is elevated and 75km is underground. Hanoi Metro Line 5 will run from Van Cao to Hoa Lac (35km elevated; 5km underground) and is the third line to be progressed.
