Transport Secretary, The Rt Hon Mark Harper MP, has announced the appointment of Jon Loveday as new Shareholder Director to the Crossrail International (CI) Board, effective 1 March 2024. This will strengthen CI’s leadership and expertise to successfully deliver HM Government’s strategic objectives of increasing exports and boosting the reputation of UK businesses worldwide.
CI leverages the value which was created on the Crossrail (Elizabeth line) project by identifying and maximising overseas commercial opportunities supporting the interests of the wider UK industry supply chain in trade and exports.
In his new role, Jon will work alongside the Chair of CI, Keith Wallace, in conveying HMG’s objectives and perspective to the Board to aid its decision-making and to provide a direct line of sight to the Department on developments at CI, the quality of CI’s board, and the quality of the management of their functions.
Jon is Director of Infrastructure, Enterprise and Growth at the Infrastructure and Projects Authority (IPA), the government’s centre of expertise for infrastructure and major projects. He leads the advisory team supporting the successful delivery of the Government’s Major Project Portfolio, which represents the largest, most complex and beneficial projects in the UK. His portfolio includes all major transport, energy, housing, environment, foreign affairs and culture projects.
Prior to joining the IPA, Jon spent 10 years in executive roles within the utilities sector in water and telecommunications. His responsibilities included business strategy, transformation, capital programmes, operations, commercial, international supply chain and logistics. A chartered quantity surveyor, Jon spent the early part of his career successfully managing large construction and infrastructure projects and later in executive leadership roles for two of the UK’s largest and fastest growing tier 1 infrastructure businesses.
In addition to the new appointment, the role of Keith Wallace, Chair, has been extended through to January 2026, and Michèle Dix, Non-Executive Director, has been reappointed to the CI Board through to February 2027.
