Simon Wright OBE BSc (Hons) CEng FICE is a senior construction executive with over 40 years of public and private sector experience in the successful delivery of major infrastructure programmes.

Until November 2018, he was Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for Crossrail Ltd., responsible for all aspects of the new Elizabeth Line railway for London and the South East of England, currently Europe’s largest infrastructure programme. Prior to his appointment as CEO, Simon served as Programme Director and was an Executive Member of the Crossrail Board from July 2014 to November 2018.

Between 2006 and 2012, he was Director of Venues and Infrastructure at the Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA) where he successfully delivered the £3.7 billion infrastructure works and utilities for the 250-hectare Olympic Park in Stratford for the London 2012 Olympics. He was a member of the ODA’s Executive Management Board, reporting to the Chief Executive, that steered through the overall £9.3 billion Olympic Park programme, with an exemplary health and safety record. Simon also led the development of the much-acclaimed ODA Learning Legacy programme.

During his career, Simon has also served as Project Development Director at Network Rail, with responsibility for the re-development of the £3 billion Euston Station programme; spent 10 years as a Director at Arup responsible for Project Management; and completed assignments in Hong Kong and Thailand while at Mouchel.

Simon was made an Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (OBE) for services to the construction Industry in 2012. He holds a BSc (Hons) in Civil Engineering from Birmingham University and is a Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers.
