Will Parkes BA (Hons) is a corporate communications, government affairs and media relations professional with 25 years of experience in the public and private sectors, operating at strategic and board level within complex organisations. Will has a detailed understanding of regulated sectors and infrastructure delivery and is skilled in reputation management, message development, crisis and media relations, political affairs, internal communications, digital media and promotional campaigns.
He spent over four years at Crossrail as External Affairs Director, responsible for the development and delivery of internal and external communications strategies, managing a team of 50. He was also a member of the project’s Executive Committee, tasked with delivering the scheme to construct the Elizabeth line, London’s new east-west underground railway. During his time at Crossrail, Will developed and executed the Crossrail Art Programme, a series of permanent public art installations for the new railway.
He commenced his career as a researcher working in politics and television. Will later worked for Transport for London (TfL) where he was Head of Government and Stakeholder Relations before joining United Utilities as Head of Government Affairs. Prior to joining the Crossrail team, he was Communications Director for London Stansted Airport.
Will holds a BA (Hons) in Architectural Studies from Newcastle University. He is currently learning French at the Institut Français Royaume-Uni in London.
