BANGKOK

Crossrail International’s Paul Dyson and Martin Rowark were guest attendees at a joint Thai Ministry of Transport and British Embassy Bangkok workshop held on 25 March 2019 in Bangkok, Thailand, promoting collaboration for infrastructure development between Thailand and the UK.

“Why Transport Matters” was the theme for the one-day workshop, held at the British Ambassador’s Residence at the British Embassy. A series of presentations were made to Thailand’s Minister of Transport, H.E. Arkhom Termpittayapaisith (pictured centre) and other visiting government and transport agency representatives from the Office of Transport and Traffic Policy and Planning (OTP), Bangkok Express and Metro (BEM) Bangkok Mass Transit System (BTS) Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA), Mass Rapid Transport Authority of Thailand (MRTA), and the State Railway of Thailand (SRT).

UK specialists, engineers and academic institutions were invited as key speakers to demonstrate UK capabilities in innovation, specifically in transport development.

Hosted by Deputy Head of Mission, Margaret Tongue (pictured above, right), the workshop included a presentation from Martin Rowark on Commercial and Procurement Best Practice for Complex Infrastructure from a Crossrail perspective.

Other participants at the Thailand:UK showcase event included Arup, Broadway Malyan, Coventry University and Savills.
